i installed navigon as a gps program and when i run it, it asks me to enable
gps, i enable it (from the software) it enables the gps but the gps wont start,
it doesnt show an icon that its opened/going to lock at the status bar.. (on
the widget and in the settings it shows that its enabled, so no locking, no
nothing... when i press home and disable and re-enable the gps its starts
working.. but it shows me 500 kilometers away from my position.. wiped
everything and did a fresh install.. same problem.. this problem is confirmed
by a lot of people too..

Im using 2.02 aurora, expected to when starting the gps the icon be at the
status bar and lock at the right position not 500 kilometers away :)

My regards, Paul.

Spirosbond its not a gps fix issue.. Say that you run a navigation app without
enabling the GPS first, when you start the app its asks you that you must
enable it and prompts you to the settings menu to enable it. You do that. Then
you press back button to revert to your previous screen the GPS app. Then you
wait that the icon on the status bar appears and starts locking. It never
happens.

First solution: You must enable GPS BEFORE you run the navigation app.
Second solution: You must after you run the app, minimize it - go to settings -
disable and then enable your GPS, then it starts working and going to lock.

FTW, the gps fix you mention is indeed working but its for the GPS to lock fast
or to have better accuracy.. you just change the NTP server to your nearest and
the SUPL server to then one you choose (i have google's).

Friendly, Paul.

Yeah I totally agree with you. I have stated this exact behaviour in the aurora
thread at this post

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23930275&postcount=2743

I an not talking about the "server change". I am talking about the

INTERMEDIATE_POS=1

change it to

INTERMEDIATE_POS=0

It won't fix the need to exit and re-enter to the apk to lock the gps but it
may stop locking 500km away of your position.

I have just noticed that dzo already did this change on 2.03 test though...

Cheers

Just one note... on latest version it does seem to be fixed, but the issue has
nothing to do with the suggestions made here.
It was not a locking problem... for some reason the apps simple couldn't access
the GPS info (the GPS icon didn't even show on the status bar). After
restarting the app, the icon would show up and sooner or later, the location
would be shown.

This happened with Google Maps, other navigation apps and even other simple
apps that would require the phone location for trivial tasks (e.g. listing the
nearest gas stations).
