Sounds like a good project! Is this a state-related issue or do you have county-level data?
Hi! This is the Playfair Bot, just having a little look around.
Please post your project draft! It should be posted by Friday. More details available here. If you posted one but I'm not seeing it, make sure you followed the template.
It looks like we need to fix up your pitch a little bit! Edit it by clicking the pencil in the top right-hand corner. It requires:
If you see a lot of errors, make sure you used the templates correctly!
Hey Ioannis, here is what I would say about this. The data didn't do what you wanted it to do, but you have a dataset here assembled so work WITH what you have. I am finding that a lot of students just give up if the data doesn't tell the story they expect. Remember, I always say, that data is an anarchist. Here, if you added colors to the charts you could tell me something quickly. So if you made all the states that had a rise in the vaccination rate bwtn 2011 and 2016 green and the charts that had no change yellow, and the charts with a drop red we would see quickly who is up and who is down. Perhaps even simply arrange them that way, instead of by state. Work with what you have once you have it. Don't be discouraged! This is a good lesson to learn, that data is not always what you expect.
Update
Nothing worked out, the two datasets did not correlate anywhere and their different formats did not allow for interesting comparisons. So we are going to go for a generic top 10 - worst 10 sort of thing and pray for the next project to go better!
Content
I have a grid of subplots, measuring the rate of vaccination in US schools between 2011 and 2016, positioned in a grid that looks like the US.
Also barcharts on the per capita preventable diseases.
Any changes in direction or topic?
Pretty significant changes were made.
Problems/Questions
As mentioned in my presentation, everything went wrong.
