It's hot again. The heat and the humidity are exhausting. And the cold rooms are a challenge, too. In this project, I would like to mesure the temperature and humidity changes that normal tourists experience in New York these days. What are the highest temperatures -- and where were they mesured? What are the lowest temperatures? Are there fast changes in the temperature and humidity?

Possible headlines:

• The heat is not the problem. It's the humditiy
• Why you better take a cab than the metro
• Mind the gap: What is healthy cooling?

I will record the data with a Arduino compatible device and some sensors. Additionally, I am planing on tracking the location using a smartphone.

Inspiration:

The radio WNYC did mesure the heat and the humidity in apartments in Harlem during this summer.

Equipment:

I plan to use the following equipment:

• Adafruit Feather HUZZAH
• Adalogger FeatherWing with Real Time Clock + SD
• Adafruit Sensiron SHT31-D Temperature & Humidity Sensor
• Photo Transistor Light Sensor

  Details:

• The sensor data is transmitted in to my webserver using the smartphone. It is available here.
• The GPS data is collected on the smartphone and then exported manually. It would be possible to export the data automatically using the same app on a Android device.
