Miner not stopping mining and using power when no connection to the pool

I use standalone apollo-miner. I've noticed that mining pool is offline, they are doing some maintenance. However, apollo keeps mining into the air and burning power.

Summary: Pool has been offline for few hours but miner keeps burning power for nothing, there is no stratum connection.

Expected result: mining should stop, power use should drop. json file should show zero hashrate. Apollo-miner output should also show zero hashrate.
