Problem: While there is a player importer for pulling player sign-ups from a CSV into the database, it isn't very forgiving. This ticket is open-ended - just look into making it far more forgiving, and make it bend over backwards to try to make an input from an umpire work. You might also consider having it do things like generate a sign-up page that is compatible with it (GForms API, if it exists?), give more direction to the umpire on why it is rejecting an input, etc.
