Reaticulate Banks for NI Symphony Series and Cremona Quartet #147

Here is a reaticulate map generator that I used for NI Cremona, and Symphony Series Instruments.

It's not fancy, but the idea is to clip the output column and open your favourite text editor. Remove the quotes, and replace the '||||'s with quote marks. Then you're good to go.

Note - I am well aware that I have not followed standard program number conventions for the articulation. Easy enough to tweak and change, but I don't have it in me. I also was a bit clumsy with the colour and icon choices. Again, this is trivial to change and re-generate.

This is just a template that I created for my own use, but I think there's a starting point for anyone who wants to build on it.

In Reaper, I created track templates for each of the NI Products (Cremona and SS), with sub tracks for each. Generally, the '(Basic)' version are a single 8 voice instrument in Kontakt that matches the reaticulate map. If you want all the articulations, take the 'basic' vst offline, and bring the extended one online. These are kontakt multis that have articulation banks separated by channel.

I have not done extended templates for all - I'll add them as I need them, but the starting point is there.

Note - I couldn't include all the Track templates as they were too large to upload here. Will try to find another way/place to post them.

(note - I will endeavour to upload a few mods to make it a bit more usable, such as sharing the same codes between Basic and Extended banks so that there is reusability and consistency)

Thanks for the contribution! Sorry for the delay -- I'll be attending to this after I get Reaticulate 0.5 final out the door.

@indigomirage just looking through these finally, thanks again for the submission. It was clearly quite a lot of effort!

In the process of tweaking this to align better with the naming of other contributions (for example, g="Native Instruments/Symphony Series/Brass Ensemble" instead of g="Native Instruments/NISSBE"), I'm a bit thrown by the hardcoded channels in the output events.

My main concern is the banks are crafted for fairly specifically configured multis, and it's not clear how the user should be arranging the patches in Kontakt to be compatible with the banks. Is this something you can clarify in the bank messages?

I will try to take a look in the next couple of days. There is a logic to it, but it does indeed require a fairly specific setup in kontakt. It does, however, give you all the articulations. (even if the icons are not ideal)

BTW.. I encountered an issue with things not showing up if the numeric order programs didn't follow the order in the file. I may be mistaken though and will try to replicate. (I was too exhausted after encoding everything to dive in).

Thanks,

brentj
