User-configurable alternative
client-side¹, use URL parameter(s?) to provide the installed list; and another one for search
allow changing searchterm without starting a new metasearch

¹ GH will need to be trusted.

Hosting can also be local — just a file.

edit: oh wait you can have files in the extension, though it has a few problems (mainly being a privileged page, and doesn't work well with other extensions interacting with tabs/history, though that shouldn't be a significant problem, since there isn't much history to be there).
