Hey @jtwarren, I discovered your project just yesterday and must say that I'm really surprised you came up with same Idea like ourselves! Cool stuff! Even more surprised me, that you work for the Guardian Project, which my team and I very much admire. We have been sending requests to the Guardian Project since last year to be added to the list of secure Apps, but sadly noone replied. But you hopefully didn't simply take over our idea, did ya? ^^ We also strongly aim to be added to the SSD by the EFF.

Without wanting to draw anyone away from working on your Repository, I welcome everyone (especially you, @jtwarren) to have a curious and critical look at the Android-IMSI-Catcher-Detector. We are still looking for developers with balls - so do not hesitate to grab our latest WIP-Release, install it on your Android and test it to its bones! If you would like to discuss our App, feel free to check out our Official Discussion on XDA-Developers. My honest, secret dream is now to work together on AIMSICD.. :+1:

Hey there. This is n8fr8 from the Guardian Project. I'm sorry if we haven't been as responsive as we could, and definitely admire your work on IMSI catching.

This project was a collaboration that came out of a class at MIT MediaLab that I helped advise. We wanted to create a simple app that could work on non-rooted, stock devices. We knew that what is possible in that context is severely limited compared to having root on specific devices, but the premise was that through aggregating scans, and doing diff'ing between scans, we might come up with something useful.

This is Jeff's project, so I will let him response, but we (the guardian project) definitely want to support anyone and everyone doing work on this very hard problem.

@n8fr8, thanks for your friendly response. Since the creation of the intial project thread in 2012 and launching the Android-IMSI-Catcher-Detector (AIMSICD) on GitHub in November 2013, I have been trying to get in touch with the Guardian Project via E-Mail because one of our main objectives is to get added to your list of secure Apps. I tried multiple times, but never received a response.

With the discovery of this Project, our team and their developers feel sad and also stunned, that none of you contributed to our Project which already exists since last year. Just for my own clarification: Was it mandatory to create a whole new App for the class at MIT MediaLab? Would've been awesome if those folks could've worked with us. I know, I you can't reverse time. But how about collaborating now? We would love to welcome everyone on our own GitHub to bundle efforts for achieving the desired Goals!
