Web GUI stops working #112

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load router with p11 firmware
2. Let it run for 24hrs
3. Try to login to web console

When I attempt to connection it will prompt for user/pass. I then will get a
blank screen. In IE 8 I get the following error:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64;
Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; .NET CLR 3.5.30729;
.NET CLR 3.0.30729)
Timestamp: Fri, 17 Feb 2012 15:09:27 UTC

Message: Object required
Line: 37
Char: 13
Code: 0
URI: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/alttxt.js

I xxx out my IP address. SSH still works and the router works somewhat but will
slow down my WAN speeds sometimes.

Thanks!
Frank

Also worth mentioning that I re-powered the router a few times. It will work
for 24hrs or so after the reboot, but then will stop working.

One more note. Only difference since previous version of firmware (p8) is that
I enabled logging to my Syslog server in version p11.

You have transmission installed?

Clear your browser cache data.
Install another browser. There are no issues in Mozilla or Chrome...
And please try to use 'search' next time!

Yeah, kinda a harsh comment there. I have another browser installed. I get the
same problem in Firefox, only FF doesn't get me the error details like IE so I
added them to help show where the problem is. Neither Firefox of IE on my
system save the cache. It's always cleared on exit.

AND I DID SEARCH FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND NOTHING!

no, I don't have transmission installed either.

Sorry, I didn't want to write a harsh comment, really! =)
All I wanted to say is that such issues won't be fixed. Try to write to Asus
support about this.

Here is the link to issue like yours:

No problem. So that other thread seems to be saying that in order to fix the
issue you need to turn off NAT-UPnP?? Is that correct? Also, someone says the
p11 fixed it, but in my case it caused it?

Original comment by fran...@gmail.com on 17 Feb 2012 at 7:27

No-no, NAT-UPnP is for auto port-forwarding... I think that issue is mixed with
other questions.
Pls, try to use http://my.router/ instead of your local ip address.
Also, try http://my.router/index.asp and http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/index.asp

Please let us know, if you get the same errors.
Btw, have you set cache to be cleaned on exit? or do you think it should be
cleaned?..
What OS do you use?

Thanks for the clarification. So I have tried it on both my MACs and PCs.
Macs are running 10.7, PCs running Win7Pro and Server 2008 R2. I have tried
it in Safari, IE8, IE9 and Firefox 7. The my.router links don't work, but
that is only because of my DNS settings I'm assuming. I can't get to
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/index.asp, but if I navigate to a different page, such as
/Advanced_WAN_Content.asp it does work.

When did this bug show up? As I mentioned the last firmware I used was the
custom p8 and it never gave me this issue.

I take it from your comments that I need to file a bug report with ASUS to
get this addressed?

Thanks again for the help!

And yes, the cache is set to clear on exit. And I have both exited and manually
cleared the cache to see if it helps. It does not.
