Streaming HD video lock up #149

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I like the firmware development your doing on the RT-N56U. However what
prevents me from keeping the firmware is lock ups on HD video using a HDD
connected to the router USB port. I've tried every release since 1.0.1.7f-p11
and video still locks up. I'm using a Netgear NTV550 HD Media player to stream
video.

When I use the ASUS default firmware the HD video never locks up. I can watch a
complete movie without any issues.

If you can find a root cause for this it would be greatly appreciated. I don't
have any other issues using the your custom firmware.

Thanks,
Thomas

I have read speed (via LAN port) from router SMB share ~12-13MB/s. From NFS
share ~14-15MB/s.

Any BDMV stream can not exceed 8MB/s.

NTV550 has read speed test for any share. Show speed test result please.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my issue. I'm not familiar on how to
get the speed test results. I don't see anything like a speed test on NTV550.
Attached is a snapshot of the speed statistics from the RT-N56U router. Hope
this will help. I was streaming a Bluray movie during this test.

I'm not an expert, but I did measure streaming speed and average is 1240 KB/s (
wireless 2,4 GHz ). I'm trying to stream an MKV file from my PC to Samsung
BD-P3600 blu-ray-player. MKV MediaInfo report below.
Thanks for help !

I am having the same issue watching videos from the USB attached storage. Did
you downgrade your firmware to fix this?

When I use XMBC to stream, video lags and sometimes hang. VLC has no issues.
Changing the attached harddisk to the port further away from the front of the
router resolves the issues.

Thank you! I had exactly the same problem and the change to the second USB port
really helped.
