Maybe this request is outside of the intended scope of the app, but I think it would be a beneficial feature for any iOS users studying Japanese.
Right now you have the feature for mining anki cards in beta. This is a great feature! It would be great if we could use this feature outside of the app also. For example, when the user highlights a word, you can open a menu of options. Sometimes various apps have features which appear in this area.
It would be great if KantanManga could take advantage of this for mining sentences from websites. Sure it's not manga-related, but a lot of the functionality already exists within the app and currently there is nothing like this on iOS. It would be great if we could pull words or sentences from the web and add them to our flashcard list and sync it with desktop later on.
And on the card creation screen, rather than the manga page, allow the user to upload a photo. For example if they're mining the word from a news article they could upload the photo from the web page, or if they're mining a word from an online post they could add a screenshot of the post or something. It's a great idea!
Another helpful feature would be allowing users to search words in the dictionaries that they added to the app. Within the app itself (like a dictionary app), or from the menu when you highlight a word.
Maybe it would be better to make it as a fork of this app and spin it off into a separate app, but regardless I think a lot of the functionality already exists in KantanManga (searching words in the dictionaries, formatting the dictionaries, creating flashcards and syncing them with anki). You just need to allow searching words with an input field, or grabbing highlighted text and pulling it into the app.
