From the original project it seems that it is possible to paste the json: https://github.com/JosefNemec/LiteDbExplorer/issues/29 I never used or tested so I don't know how and if it works.

Maybe something more advanced in the future, no plans at the moment but any contribution is welcome.

That was not abandoned. Within the project we have some progress on this in early stages.
