A bit of Deja vu, I feel similarly, and for me the break in “shared reality” really started to show in 2020. I do think part of it is how algorithms try to promote engagement, and that impacts us collectively whether you participate in social media or not, as the majority of people do.

I’m not sure it’s a new phenomenon though, it is probably always there. Seems if anything we are encouraged to focus more on what we disagree with than what we agree with, since it’s very difficult for everyone to have a common understanding/agreement.
