Task 10. Convene and connect climate champions. Engagement will include an online mechanism for communication and collaboration, some strategic phone calls and webinars, as well as an in-person meeting. The in-person meeting will likely take the form of a workshop in which all participants will be invited to openly discuss the utility of climate risk information shared to date, climate services needs and opportunities more broadly, and strategic next steps for sustained engagement. In addition, this meeting will create space for communities facing similar climate risks to network and share experiences and challenges. We will look for opportunities to go to where these communities are already gathering, which will provide greater breadth of feedback and interactions. This sustained engagement process will be designed to allow for higher levels of engagement – including continued co-production of information and network organization with climate champions that have the ability to do so, and more limited levels of engagement (modified co-production) with those who cannot, allowing them to still learn from those champions who can engage more fully and consistently in the process.

Responsibility: PIs Stults and Arnott will co-lead with PI Duncan supporting.

We should start thinking about a date for this soon. Perhaps July or August of next year?

Yeah, tentatively, I think that's a good time frame. I think we can revise based on how long it takes to ID and recruit target communities, champions etc. From a practical standpoint, if we're going to organize a meeting in a nice place (e.g. Jackson), the fall could be cheaper.
