Hardware/software decoding ? #3

So this is more a technical question than an issue but I think it matters as I have troubles understanding if this tweak allows to enable an already built feature or if julio implemented decoding himself in the app.

From what i’ve understood, Julio managed to enable VP9 codec support in the youtube app. But how is this possible knowing that hardware decoding is not available on ios 13 ? Did Julio manage to find a prebuilt software decoding of VP9 in the app or did he write more code allowing decoding ? Thus, is using this tweak harmful for battery life (software decoding) or does it use hardware decoding ? Anyway I will stay on iOS 13 for jailbreak but I here everyone being happy about ios 14 and the availability of VP9 in Youtube, thus i’m surprised we can have it in ios 13.

Not 100% sure but iirc the A9 has VP9 hardware decoding support. So logically all the iPhone chips that have come afterwards should have support?
