What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. sometimes the hard coded DNS server / download site is unreachable rendering 
the app useless

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Add the option to configure your own DNS servers or use the DNS servers of the 
host system you are connecting to.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.5.5 beta, CM7 Nightlies, Nexus One

Please use stable edition instead, which has disabled dns proxy future 
automatically for users outside China
