I can not get Linux-track to work in X-Plane. Light comes on no movement #71

Hello,

I installed Linuxtrack for mac and opened the GUI and everything seems to work. 
I Installed the Plugin and closed Linuxtrack down. I then started X-plane and 
the lights do come on but i get no movement in x-plane. I checked and the 
plugin is loading

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I have installed the Wine.exe and changed the Pilot View Ini. File. Linuxtrack 
now works but only if i turn on PilotView?. There seems to be no way to zoom 
back and I am too close

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I am using 5.2 final on Mac OS 9.4

Hello,
the behavior you are experiencing is correct; when Linuxtrack detects a 
PilotView plugin, it channels its data to the plugin, so it works like on 
Windows, when TrackIR is connected. So in this config, you have to both start 
the tracking and activate the PilotView.

As for the wrong point of view; when you activate the PilotView, but not the 
Linuxtrack, do you get the correct view?

 I reinstalled Pilot view and now it seems to be working with most of my
planes except A320 Neo. I have no clue on why it does not work right with
that one plane, maybe you can shed some light on this. One thing that would
be helpful is a step by step installation and setup for Mac. I understand
the X-plane setup but configuring Linuxtrack is another story.

can you please elaborate more on the subject of how exactly is doesn't work for 
A320 Neo? Unfortunately I don't own the plane, so I can't give it a shot 
myself...

As for the setup and configuration, except for Linuxtrack installation (open 
the .dmg and drag the ltr_gui and Wiimote server somewhere) the instructions 
are pretty much the same on Mac and Linux and they are described in the 
ltr_gui's help...
That said, given the fact that I'm working on this project for quite some time, 
it might be that I overlooked something, that seem too obvious to me, but in 
reality it isn't... Feel free to ask if you stumble upon some problem, just 
please be specific - what the problem is, how does it manifest, ...

PS. One more datapoint concerning the A320 malfunction - when you disable the 
PilotView plugin (just drag it somewhere and when done, drag it back) and leave 
Linuxtrack only, how does it behave?

I have had the same issues as Barry - I don't know how this works on a Mac, so 
I have been following the conversation.  

Do Mac users have to do anything with Wine.exe?  How do I edit the 
PilotView.ini file, which is a windows file?  When you say drag the ltr_gui and 
Wiimote server somewhere, do you mean put in on our hard drive in any directory 
we want?

I too get the TrackIR working on the Mac using the ltr_gui, but it doesn't work 
in Xplane.

When I open Xplane, the TrackIR green lights come on when loading, but they 
then turn yellow.  

- Pilotview and Linuxtrack are Enabled
- On Xplane 10.30, under Settings/Joystick and Equipment/Equipment, I check the 
box on the left hand side that says TrackIR when in 3D cockpit views.
- When I set up Linuxtrack, it tells me that the Pilotview plugin is found, and 
is channelling head tracking data through it.

Still doesn't work - the lights on the TrackIR are still yellow.

I have tried it with that TrackIR checkbox checked and unchecked.

I would agree that some step by step for Macs would be very useful

Hello,
I'm planning to make some screencast going through the linuxtrack setup... 
Unfortunately I don't have much spare time these days, but I'll try to put 
something together as soon as possible...

Anyway, for now, to get you up and running...
When I say drag ltr_gui and Wiimote server, I refer to usual Mac install 
procedure - open the .dmg file and drag the files somewhere (Desktop, 
Applications, ...). Just remember that should you move the ltr_gui, you have to 
run it at least once and save the preferences.

You shouldn't have to do anything with wine.exe; it should do everything for 
you. 
You say the lights turn green, and that orange when you run XPlane, which means 
the firmware is in place. Also the lights changing is normal behavior.

What you have to do is to setup a hotkey/joystick button so 
start/pause/recenter tracker - see this page for walkthrough:

Now you need to install the Pilotview.ini - I usually use Text Wrangler, but I 
think TextEdit should work too...

The checkbox in the Equipment menu works in Windows only...

Place the Wiiserver app and LTR_GUI on your desktop and leave them there
and it will work.
