Memory Allocation Error in Windows 8 #359

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
If I try to compress a folder with many files with compression setting higher
than -Normal I get the message

ERROR: can't allocate memory required for (de)compression in
lzma:192mb:normal:bt4:128, use -lc/-ld to limit memory usage

My PC has 16GB of memory and run Windows 8 x64 with all Windows patches.

If I try to archive the same files with the same setting on a PC with Windows 7
x32 this issue doesn't happen and the compression works fine, but I can
reproduce the same problem also on all others PC that run Windows 8.

NOTE:
I have tried both FreeArc 0.666 (May 20, 2010) and FreeArc 0.67 alpha (updated:
December 12, 2012) and always with the arc format. Same issue.

Just run FreeARC with Windows 7 compatibility mode and then your problem solved
:)
