Build issues #140

Segmentation fault occurs when a package compiled on one environment is run on another. Confirmed with Linux, to be confirmed on MacOS

pip package with wheels creates segfault
conda package creates segfault
wheels built from source does not yield any segfault even after reboot
Github Actions with cache enabled creates segfault

Ideas: track .so files with ldd; esp. if built on a different machine
