Substitutions

Is there a plan to support some form of substitutions, like the jinja substitutions of myst-parser? Or would that be too tied to the Sphinx ecosystem?

Big +1 on some way to do substitutions.

Some concrete use cases:

• Boilerplate figure captions: I am currently writing a manuscript with a bunch of map plots. I have indicated the ice edge with an orange contour, but it would be nice if I could define some boilerplate text (The orange contour indicates yada yada...) and insert it in multiple figures. This could equally well be applied for e.g. a filtering method on timeseries or other cases.
• Values in results: I am currently adding/checking values in the text manually. It would be a huge step forward to define all results in a central place, and even better if one can do simple arithmetic (calculate percentages) with some predefined values (similar to this). Going further, I wonder if it would be possible to reference variables in a jupyter notebook similar to the cell output? That would be tremendous.
