Maintenance of the jupyter-sphinx project #194

AS suggested by @krassowski in the discourse forum, I'm reposting it here:

The jupyter-sphinx project is on stale since 2022 even though it’s still actively used by the sphinx community. I tried to reach maintainers in the issue tracker 1 and via email but I guess I knocked on the wrong doors as I didn’t received much traction.

In short Sphinx has made major modifications since the last release, Python version as bee deprecated, and some long-lasting issues have pending PR waiting for review. I noticed as well in another PR that the circleCI checks should be unwired as they are simply failing on build.

Could you advice on the future of the repository ? Are you looking for new maintainers (in this case I’m applying) ?

Hi @12rambau, yes, please, and thank you for your work on pydata-sphinx-theme as well! I added you to the maintainer team.

@choldgraf or @SylvainCorlay can you please move the project under the Jupyter PyPI org https://pypi.org/project/jupyter-sphinx/ so I can set up automated publishing?

I don't seem to have manager rights on the package so I don't think I can help here (at least the "manage" button is greyed out for me on pypi)

@akhmerov was doing a lot of the development in that project a few years back, maybe he can help.

For what it's worth I'd support sharing more credentials across folks that are willing to maintain that repository. I haven't been involved in about 2 years and won't have time to dedicate to it in a reliable way moving forward.

I am not an owner neither, so it's either @SylvainCorlay or @jasongrout

@blink1073 @choldgraf - I made you both "owners" of the package on pypi. Can you do what needs to be done now?

blink1073 commented 5 months ago

Yes, thank you!
