choropleth maps - NBViewer #420

It seems plotly choropleth maps have to be plotted in online mode for them to be visible in NBViewer. All other types of plotly plots can be viewed in NBViewer even if they are plotted in offline mode. Is this change recent? I remember plotting choropleth maps in offline mode a few weeks ago and they were rendered flawlessly in NBViewer, but this is not the case now.

This might be related to the recent switch of plotly to build on top of widgets, which can have some tricky bits when it comes to static export. Do you have a link to a notebook?
