This theme has a number of layour, redability and usability issue on various device and contexts;

I suggest deprecating it and resting to normal RTD theme.

Yeah, I am bummed. We had two people put months worth of work into this - those two folks have moved on to other jobs, so there is no one to work on it. I know the current state isn't great, and there isn't anyone to dive into it right now ;-(

I am fine if folks want to revert to RTD uniformly until we have a solid replacement. There are many advantages to using a single docs theme across our entire project and our custom theme probably isn't the right one. At the same time, there are significant usability issues with the RTD theme that this project began to fix. I don't want us to entirely abandon that direction either.

Also for the record, we spent a good amount of time trying to modify the RTD theme itself - the CSS and layout of the RTD is extremely painful to work on in any significant way.

  • No Prev/Next button;
  • Inconsistan margin
  • Inconsistan font size
  • No links to source
  • inconsistant font underline and weight
  • No really readable
  • inconsistent navbar on top that is out of sync with jupyter.org.

I suggest deprecating it and resting to normal RTD theme.

Thanks Brian,

I think it is ok to deactivate and restart the work later; I use RTD theme as an example, i'm happy to switch to another (like classic alabaster) if you like; but I think the Jupyter-albaster theme have more significant usability issue than RTD-default; one of them being navigation; we just finished a workshop in UC Davis on honestly the Jupyter theme is far from being great usability wise. I've attempted to also fix some layout issue – I'm not the only one – but the way the style was overwritten was far from standard, and relatively hard to follow.
