This issue originated in Jupyter Enterprise Gateway Issue 282. After a kernel has been launched and is properly behaved, the Notebook's icon in the primary list does not reflect that the Notebook is running, and there are no entries on the Running tab as well. Since JEG (or JKG) are returning the correct results (indicating the kernel is active), this issue needs to be investigated from the nb2kg perspective.
