We can encode the snippet in the URL in the simple case and share URL with others like Pastebin

Are you talking about integration with an existing service, or creating a new service like a notebook version of jsfiddle?

@takluyver Take a look at this project and click on the share button Here. I'm talking on a similar functionality for notebooks to be shared with others using encoded links. I Could send a PR for this.

That looks similar to the Gist-it extension. :-)
