Finally managed to set us up on conda (https://github.com/conda-forge/jupyterlab-spellchecker-feedstock). Feel welcome to add yourself as a maintainer with a PR.

Looks good! How did you create the package in conda-forge?

I used grayskull for PyPI packages as described in here to generate meta.yml and PRed it here: https://github.com/conda-forge/staged-recipes/pull/14308
