When preparing 'cw5e5' atmosphere datasets, re-projections are much faster than with 'chelsa', but time is lost elsewhere, presumably reading metadata from the 864 (72 tiles, 12 months) tile files. The read time can be significantly reduced by concatenating all months of each tile in 72 tile files (see #97).
