Scrolling Widgets Vertical alignment bug #54

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Steps to reproduce:

1. Add Weather Forecast widget for 4 days
2. Recent Recordings (4 items)
3. Upcoming Recordings (4 items)

This "should" fit perfectly in the vertical area. It seems to be just a little
bit too large for that area; causing all the widgets to shift/scroll up and
down unnecessarily.

I have only tried this on my PC client (which I spend most of my time on).
See attached screenshot to see how I have my widgets set:

The second attachment should describe better what the problem is. It just
needs a little bit of an adjustment to fit perfectly.

I am not really certain I would consider this a bug as there are MANY different
combinations of widget items and list sizes so not sure we are going to adjust
the code so they each fit well...

You could turn OFF the Title for the Forecast if you want more space so it does
not scroll when you go to the live widgets.

Or am I missing something here ?

This just seems to be that the combination of widgets is just a tad larger than
the area so it scrolls a hair.

Not sure that we want to start making corrections for this kind of thing as we
will never be able to make them all work in all combinations for all users.

I would suggest that he drops the 4th day of forecast to skrink below the
limits if he wants to keep the 4 items in the upcoming and recent list.

The other option is to use the ExtendedWeather widget with the forecast pop out
data for the forecast (see attached).

We designed the widgets/popouts to scroll this way as the majority of people
will not fit all they want in the vertical area. We allow you move the order
so that the most important are at the top etc... as well as hiding titles and
adjusting the number of items in the lists to fit.

See two attached setups screen shots that don't scroll.

For this I say no change needed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I have attached an image of one cosmetic change I would like but it does not
change/fix this issue just fixes a slight cut off above the footer I noticed.

Yes, the widget tweak is perfect!! That's how I would like to see it.
However, Im not sure how to make this change so it continues to work with each
Gemstone update. It's been a long time since I've used Studio. Could you
please tell me what to do so it stays like that?

Thanks!!

Wait for the next version. It will be in the next update but does not solve
this issue for every combination and we aren't going to go there. It just
happens that I saw a gap there that was not necessary that could be fixed.

Thanks Ken.

It doesn't make any changes to the actual widgets themselves just the area
where they scroll.
