Stock games no longer work after uninstall #26

Open mykie242 opened 5 years ago

mykie242 commented 5 years ago

I had the hack before and added several more games to the system; running with about 15 games added to the main menu by adding them to the custom.db with SQLiteStudio, and increased the maximum number of items to 99.

As far as I could tell, all games were working, even the added ones.

To prepare for Bleemsync, I used the uninstaller to remove the original gpghack, and restore to factory settings...Unfortunately, none of the original games are working now; I select a game, and there's a quick flash and the game doesn't launch. The Bleemsync USB drive doesn't work at all.

Is my system bricked?

Here's the files: filelist.log uninstall.log

Thanks in advance!

mykie242 commented 5 years ago

BTW, This is a US version PSC; I have reset to defaults as well as re-initialized.

this code fixed for my system

mykie242 commented 5 years ago

Thanks for the help, @justMaku! Updating the lolhack.sh to get rid of the symlinks worked.

Since we're just getting rid of dead symlinks that were put on the PSC's file system, this would remove them without removing working symlinks, or touching any of the files that should be there:

find /gaadata/ -maxdepth 2 -follow -xtype l -delete -print >> $LOG

I would run this once without the -delete stanza and check the log before actually running it for with -delete, just to make doubly-sure.

As far as I can tell, there shouldn't be any symlinks in the /gaadata directory, and the above command will only delete broken ones. Plus, you won't have to personally figure out which links people need to delete!

Also, instead of find /gaadata > /media/filelist.log, I'd recommend ls -Rlah /gaadata > /media/filelist.log. This was instrumental in me being able to find and remove a stray symlink that was put in a few of the stock game dirs.

blkgsr commented 5 years ago

I'm only having issues loading Syphon Filter. The rest of the 19 games are loading fine. Ive included the log files.

Thanks in advance!

For me, it's just Rainbow Six. Used the uninstaller and everything and it just flashes and doesn't boot. Any help would be appreciated!

filelist.log uninstall.log

blkgsr commented 5 years ago

@ExSOLDIER1 - I checked out your filelist.log and it is very similar to my log. Do you know what may have caused your issue to happen?

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@blkgsr Hey man, I have a feeling it might be something with the .cfg file as I changed some of the video settings to get Legend of Legaia to run at a stable framerate.

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@blkgsr So that wasn't it at all. I reinstalled GPGHax again just to see what was going on in the main PSC file directory. Well... Somehow someway the main rom file for R6 got corrupted and broken which is why it won't start.

I am currently trying to figure out a way to use the lolhack.sh file to make a command that will copy over the R6 backup that I have and overwrite the one on the PSC internal flash with it.

blkgsr commented 5 years ago

@ExSOLDIER1 - I read through all the closed issues and found one that may fix our issue but before I run the script I want to make sure. If you look at the link below there were two others experiencing similar issues like us with different games on US and UK Playstation Classic consoles, Siphon Filter is the 16th game and Rainbox Six is the 18th I believe.

https://github.com/justMaku/gpghax/issues/7

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@blkgsr Will run it in a bit and let you know if this other thing I'm trying does not work out! I got the command to run in order to successfully copy and overwrite data thanks to a great guy on Reddit. I managed to get my game to boot up to the PS Logo (thanks to having the backup, if you need Syphon Filter's, let me know and I will find a way to get it to you), but then it just hangs there so what I'm doing now is taking the pcsx.cfg and the .lic file from the dummy game, and replacing the internal R6 files with those since it booted off USB just fine when those 2 files were replaced, where as before hand I got the "unsupported/invalid image" error message . You are totally spot on about the folder numbers (double checked the backup), so in your instance it would be:

rm /gaadata/16/16

Appreciate you passing this info along and I will keep you updated if anything above ends up fixing it! :)

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@blkgsr Hey man, just a heads up, I managed to get my game to successfully boot after running the removal cmd from GPG and then replacing the R6 files in 2 locations. There is another location on the internal drive where the titles are loaded besides the gaadata which is: data/AppData/sony/title/GameFolder . Even though the game boots, there was no music at all (main menu song was my test and confirmation). It played sound effects just fine but that was it.

After hitting that roadblock I gave up and went back to GameStop and did a defective swap and got the $25 gift card as well since that was being offered with it. However if you still need help with the backup files and want to keep going just let me know! Merry christmas and happy holidays to you my friend! :)

blkgsr commented 5 years ago

@ExSOLDIER1 Thanks for the heads up. I have not done anything with my playstation classic yet.

I want to run this script : rm /gaadata/16/16

Before I do I want to make sure this will fix it.

blkgsr commented 5 years ago

I think this may be the correct script. I want another opinion on this before I run it.

rm /gaadata/1/1 rm /gaadata/2/2 rm /gaadata/3/3 rm /gaadata/4/4 rm /gaadata/5/5 rm /gaadata/6/6 rm /gaadata/7/7 rm /gaadata/8/8 rm /gaadata/9/9 rm /gaadata/10/10 rm /gaadata/11/11 rm /gaadata/12/12 rm /gaadata/13/13 rm /gaadata/14/14 rm /gaadata/15/15 rm /gaadata/16/GameData rm /gaadata/17/17 rm /gaadata/18/18 rm /gaadata/19/19 rm /gaadata/20/20

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@blkgsr Yep, looks good! Although if you don't have a GameData folder in that location (you can use the select triangle trick to navigate) I would change it back so its regular code which was: rm /gaadata/16/16 and try that. I hope it works for you!

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@Rs2klee Should be an easy fix! If I remember correctly you can try this:

*Make sure you have GPGHax on your USB drive and delete the games folder that has the "21" folder in it.

*Plug USB into PS Classic and boot. You will see the power light flash which means it loaded the lolhack.sh script.

*Open Tekken 3, and select triangle (should still open the emulator menu), change settings back and save cfg for loaded game.

*Exit the game and if the pic for reset point is blank, DO NOT save it. Turn off console, remove USB and power back on and reload Tekken 3 to make sure it is fine.

Let me know if this helps or not!

rs2klee commented 5 years ago

@ExSOLDIER1 I tried that, if I delete the games folder it does not boot, only resets ? or did you mean delete the "21" folder inside the games folder !? Just deleted just the 21 folder and still will not boot, some reason you cant just delete that games folder! so not sure how anyone got this to work without the games folder ?

I can hear the Tekken 3 loaded in the background but cant see it lol ? i just see the main screen, like its not changed and also crashed, its the only game i play on it and not dont work :(

when i let it boot with all the files intact, i still cant get into the menu with triangle as the games loaded in the background but as said i cant see it.

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@rs2klee Forgot to mention, make sure the lolhack.sh contains only the code to open the select triangle menu and nothing else.

rs2klee commented 5 years ago

ok how do i get into the original installed games folder eg what number is Tekken 3 on ? :)

rs2klee commented 5 years ago

hey, so a small update.. i installed the hack so it only boots up the lolhack.sh file, every game loads apart from Tekken 3 and i can get into the menu, but as Tekken3 wont load into any screen i cant get up the hack menu screen to change Tekken 3 back to normal openGL mode im sure its set to SDL Window and i cant change it back as i cant boot the game up. Is there anything i can do as spent all day trying to get this to go back to normal. Anyone!!!! ?

ExSOLDIER1 commented 5 years ago

@rs2klee If you made a backup of the PS Classic, copy the numbered folder from the gaadata directory to the root of the usb device. From there you can make a line of code in the lolhack.sh file underneath the select triangle code to copy the files and overwrite the internal stuff. The code is as follows:

yes | cp -rf media/17 /gaadata/17

I am pretty sure Tekken is more than likely 17 as Tom Clancy is 18, Twisted Metal is 19 and Wild Arms is 20.

Other than this I am not sure how you can restore it unless you try an initialization again (you will lose all saves if you do this) but even that may not work.

rs2klee commented 5 years ago

dont suppose anyone has backed up their psc Tekken 3 folder no 17 by any chance ! ? or all of them in trhat case before the hack messes up the main games again. ?

how do you even back it all up. would be a good thing to know from the start. help :) !
