RTI for data on Child Marriage Prohibition Officers

Dear Public Information Officer,

Kindly furnish the following information under section 6 of the Right to Information Act, 2005.

In the case of Society for Enlightenment and Voluntary Action v. Union of India, Writ Petition (Civil) No 1234/2027, Honble Supreme Court of India vide its order dated 13-04-2023, ordered the Ministry of Women and Child Development to file a status report on following things a. the data related to the nature and the extent of child marriages in India, b. steps taken to implement the provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, c. the policies formulated by the Union Government to effectuate the purpose, d. compliance of state Governments on the appointment of child marriage prohibition officers, e. Whether the Child Marriage Prohibition Officers were given multifarious functions. A duration of 2 months was given to the Ministry to comply with this order. The order of the Supreme Court is attached with this application.

I request you to furnish the following information.

a. Whether the Ministry of Women and Child Development submitted the report to the Honble Supreme Court as ordered. b. I request you furnish a copy of the report submitted to Honble Supreme Court as directed in the order dated 13-04-23 in Writ Petition (Civil) No 1234/2027 c. Whether all the states have furnished the requisite information to the Ministry and the list of states which provided the requisite information and the list of states which did not provide the requisite information to the Ministry. d. In case the report is not filed, kindly furnish the data or information compiled as of the date of disposal of the application e. If any action or policy intervention is taken by the Union Government based on the report.
