I updated last night. Since then when I click "record" in licecap then "Save" in the resulting save dialog, the dialog closes and nothing at all happens.

FYI - I had the same issue. Adding the .gif extension manually (as per #71 ) fixed it. Still think this is a bug worth addressing though.

Same issue here.

in my case, it only records the background

mhourahine commented 4 years ago

@luis-admios That one sounds more like a permissions issue. Do you have LICEcap checked on in Security & Privacy - Privacy - Screen Recording?

codeofsumit commented 4 years ago

@mhourahine thanks, that fixed it!

guilsa commented 4 years ago

For me, LICEcap is not listed under Security & Privacy > Screen Recording. I tried downloading latest, same thing. Mac OS won't let me add apps there.

Licecap would also need some kind of disk access as well -- currently can grant full disk access but can't add just files and folders access.

See workaround in https://github.com/justinfrankel/licecap/issues/71#issuecomment-531507490 -- in my case the app wasn't quarantined but needed the manual step of appending .gif to the filename. At that point the app requested the necessary access which after approval got things working again.

Once Licecap is in the Screen Recording list, it must be enabled.

Adding .gif to the filename during the save operation brought me back to life! Thanks for the tip.

Would not have guessed that adding the file extension manually would make this work. Thanks :D

esaruoho commented 4 years ago

how would i go about finding the macos catalina version of licecap, please?

own answer: get it from https://www.cockos.com/licecap/

HKH01 commented 4 years ago

When Choose file for recording show, add Save as with extension .gif, and granting Screen Recording, then Allow. It works for me.

@patrickeakin are you still having this issue, or was it solved/fixed by a new version installation? if so, can you close this ticket?
