This PR goes along with #89, Testing with Apple Silicon / Matlab R2023b / macOS Sonoma 14.2. The individual commits here address specific issues encountered during testing so please see #89 for details.

Works great on my M1 MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.2.1 and matlab2023b.

There does seem to be an issue compiling the eyelink code though. I'll post as an issue...
