What's everyone else's idea of ideal combat? I think it should be simple, but it also needs to not be a snoozefest. I was thinking the player has a broom she smacks enemies with and then you can also throw potions at enemies to make things interesting. Example: You're fighting porcupines so you can gather their quills for using in potions. Normally when the player gets too close to try to hit the porcupine with the broom it goes into spiky-ball-defense-mode and the player is damaged either by proximity or from the "reflected" damage of smacking something spiky - so the player needs to throw a stun potion to prevent spiky-defense-mode or use potions that cause damage from a distance.
