Update the docstring in the `Call_api_code` function #56

The docstring is out of date and doesn't reflect the current input parameters.

It would be good to also have an example of the input data structure.

Issue #53 must be completed before starting this task.

Steps for the developer:

Create a branch
Look at the new split-out functions (at least 2 of them)
Make a docstring for each which covers the input parameters, data types and some examples
Use Google Python docstring formatting
Make a pull request
