hmm, like badges or lists of competencies? Interesting -- how would you find people by their competences, like tags, so you could see a list of everyone who can stitch maps?

Sara brought it up while we were talking about mapmill. I think this could help stir up more website user interaction. A connection to a list of people who not only can do stuff and are ready to collaborate.

let's pick this up again as we start to do the mapping help desk idea. We could call it "mapping task force" too. Or maybe those are two different things.

Sounds good, and I think that they can be the same at this point...
see what tools that people know how to use, instruct in their profile
