I second that, especially the syncing (or rather: pulling) part.
As far as I know there is no free Android app that is able to keep the calendar in sync with an .ics calendar.
Yes, there would be no other os app which can sync ics files.
In the meantime there are some calendar sync apps available on github
@k3b None of these apps provide the functionality that our request is concerned with, namely pulling from / staying in sync with a .ics calendar file given as URL.

Description
ICSdroid can subscribe to remote iCalendar files (like time tables of your school/university or event files of your sports team). It will download the remote calendars with a certain (free-to-choose) interval and synchronize them into local native read-only calendars which can then used with your calendar app.
Importing and syncing a calender by url (vCalendar layout), would be great.
