Open for review and testing, will continue to make it better, but it should work even in this state. So if you do find any issues, do please report them

Bit confused about this change. Is the baseline (now known as signal) no longer used to provide baseline behaviour?

As discussed in OfficeHours today, I ll merge this for now, and we explore our options on how to best deal with the dynamic baseline. We can expect a bit of breaking changes here, for now we focus on avoiding the GO-compile, until we have the next best solution
