readme overhaul #35

Completely overhauls README.md to have better formatting and be more informative.

Look in the readme-update branch to see what it looks like.

(The banner doesn't load properly, this is because it looks for the banner in the main branch that doesn't exist, it will work once this is merged, however.)

If there is anything you want to be reverted or changed please let me know!
