I dont understand image of possible gear configurations. Its not showing me what gear i need to put where. Possible pitches chart is also not helping. It does not tell me which of my specified gears i need to use in what order.
tonycstech, for example if you want pitch 2mm, one combination is "20 60 80 80 bottom" which means you should look at the chart "4 bottom" and use 20t gear touching the spindle on the top row (left side), 60t+80t gear in the middle row and 80t in the bottom row (leadscrew) on the right side. Thanks!
It would be helpful if the page would show which gear go where. Right now all i can see is a list of every possible thread but what gear i need and where is complete mystery according to the generated image. Maybe my browser not working correctly ? I dont see any indication how many teeth gear goes where in order to get the pitch i need.
Maybe this project is not made to tell me what gear i need and where to get the desired pitch but rather give me 5 different gear positions and a list of all possible pitches it can make with given gears ?
30, 33, 40, 50, 52, 60, 66, 80, 82, 84, 109 are my gears' lead screw 2mm spindle teeth count 56 pitch i need is 16mm (dont ask why) Using this calculator, how do i know what gear needs to go where when it doesnt even tell me what gears i need ?
The max pitch you can cut with your gears is 5.883
I dont see what you see. What i see is: Alot of info so i cant even tell what pitch i can do with my gears. [image: FireShot Capture 005 - Lathe gear calculator - kachurovskiy.com.png]
Looks like your screenshot was lost due to reply by email. Can you please try to upload it via website comment form? Thank you.
The list is very long so i had to zoom out and take screenshot like that.
Anyway. Looking at the chart and seeing how many possible pitches i can cut using available gears, it would be super helpful if i could find a pitch i want (lets say 1.5) and click some button that would generate the list of gears needed as well as in what order they need to be installed. I am guessing its too much to ask. Thanks !
So the UI can be a bit confusing here but at the top of your screenshot it says exactly the same thing as I posted - pitch 16 "Doesn't seem possible with the gears you have".
To get gears calculated for pitch 1.5 you can just enter 1.5 in the form above and you'd have it. Yes, making those pitches clickable is a good idea. Cheers!
