Ethernet not working properly on dell mini 10v #164

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I am trying to connect my netbook to my mac mini for large file transfers
2.I can connect via wireless without an issue but I want to use a cross over 
ethernet to improve 
transfer speeds
3.Ethernet seems to clash with the wireless.  With wireless turned off I cannot 
connect via 
ethernet.  Sometimes, after connecting with wireless and ethernet connected, I 
get fast transfers 
but it is not something I can reliably reproduce.

What netbook are you using this on?
Dell mini 10v

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to connect via ethernet with wifi turned off.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Snow Leopard 10.6.2
Please provide any additional information below.
I am struggling to find a consistent method of connecting for fast transfer.  
the majority of times 
I can only get wireless connection speeds.

Apologies, I think I have solved my own problem.  The issue is that the 
ethernet connectivity is inconsistent if 
you allow the connection to use dhcp 169.x.x.x addresses.  Using a private 
range of 192.168.1.x 255.255.0.0 I 
am now able to use the fast ethernet cross-over link.  All is working well.  A 
fully working Hackintosh! :-)

I have just the opposite issue. Have a Dell Mini 10V and the Ethernet works 
fine but the WiFi doesn't work at all. I 
have the DW 1397 card on my PC and haven't attempted to replace it yet to 
verify the card is good but if I buy a 
replacement card, would like to know if I install the DW 1510 card if would be 
compatible with Snow L 10.6.1 
installed, What is your advice here? I installed SL using NetbookBootLoader and 
NBI 0.8.3 RC 5.
