Problems with Shutting Down #237

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Selecting the "Shut Down..." option from the apple menu.
2.
3.

What netbook are you using this on?
-Asus 1005HA

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
-I expect the computer to shut down, instead I see that the Display goes
black, but the power button and power indicator on the bottom show that the
computer is still on.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
-NBI 0.8.4 RC1 on Mac OS X 10.6.3

Please provide any additional information below.
-I know a problem similar to this has been brought up before, but when I
went to install NBI 0.8.4 before I applied the 10.6.3 update, the NBI
installer looped the "Regenerating DSDT.aml" step, refusing to advance
further. I then proceeded to quit the installer and rerun NBI 0.8.4 RC1,
deselecting the "Generate a system specific DSDT.aml file". The installer
proceeded on as normal, but it makes me uncomfortable seeing that the
DSDT.aml file refused to be patched. Am I not waiting long enough for the
"Regenerating DSDT" step? Is 1 hour too short of a wait time?

-Also, does the DSDT.aml file affect how the computer shuts down?

I've brought this issue up, and now I think I have a solution to most NBI
problems with 1005ha by using a patched dsdt.aml file.

So far you won't be able to generate a dsdt using NBI, but you can generate
your own. However to save the trouble of patching yourself, here is a link to
mine.

Just drag it into your /Extra folder and the following problems can be fixed:

- Backlight after sleep
- System power down after shutting down OS X
- A battery meter a indicating [x]
- Pressing power button brings up OSX power-down window

Just beware, I might delete this file in the future, so get it while you still
can...

Thanks for the fix dude! After dropping your dsdt.aml file into my /Extra
folder and tweaking the DSDT to my hackintosh configuration I was able to fix
the sleep/wake issue and the shut down issue and the power button issue. I
fixed the Batter Meter issue by modding the DSDT.aml file to match the amount
of ram I had installed (2Gb).

Thanks again!

@luon

What do you use to tweak the DSDT file, and how? I know it's possible but have
never been able to find out how to do it.

I used EvOSX86 DSDT editor in order to tweak the DSDT file. You can find the
download for that program here:

hope it helps. Good Luck!
