Wifi atheros AR5005 on 10.6.6 not working (working in 10.6.0) #334

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. NBI 0.8.5 + 10.6.3 retail dvd via usb pendrive
2. Reboot when install finish, install combo update 10.6.6 and install NBI again
3. Reboot. System working ok, but no wifi, no sound ALC883 (and other less used 
drivers not needed)

What netbook are you using this on?
Acer Aspire 5610z

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Nothing about wifi/atheros appears.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
10.6.6 Snow leopard.

Please provide any additional information below.

In multiple changes i made, with NBI 0.8.4 and a 10.6.0 retail dvd/dmg with a 
usb clean installation i get the wifi AR5005 working. The kext claims to be 
IO80211NetworkingFamily.kext, but in 10.6.6 kext not works.

I have tried several kexts to atempt to get working wifi (or sound) with no 
luck.
Please all help will be hight apreciated.

same exact issue here.. 1005ha after update to 10.6.6 (no need to run again 
nbi) i reboot, netbook hangs on  NBI bootscreen after a while i reboot again 
(forced) and everything works, except wifi.

I suppose that's because NBI installs it's own wifi kexts and that may cause 
some incompatibility..

Any help would be really appreciated

4. After a while i force reboot.
5System now boots.  System working ok, but no wifi, no ethernet

I think maybe i should remove some kext installed by NBI but when i run pfix 
boot will no longer work.

Hello,

I finally get working my wifi ar5005 running: 10.6.4 kext + adding pci device.

I really downloaded full 10.6.4 combo, extract the kext with pacifist and 
modify. Several kext i have tried supposed to be 10.6.4 working in my case not 
working. Maybe you prefer follow my steps and try.
