winetricks GUI display bug #393

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
1.run "winetricks"

The expected output is the list of items to fill the whole window. But, only a
small fraction of the items is visible at any one time (see attached
screenshot).

winetricks 20130707 on OpenSUSE 13.1 64-bit with KDE 4.11.3.

zenity-3.8.0-3.fc20.x86_64 already installed.

Can I debug somehow this for You?

If you can make a very short shell script that reproduces the problem
without winetricks (perhaps by running winetricks -v, saving the log,
and copying the commands that put up the gui),
that would probably be helpful.

I'd do it but I'm short on time.

After updating to the latest winetricks development snapshot I no longer have
this problem.

I am running the same OpenSUSE machine but I may have also updated qt/KDE
packages, etc. I've run too many updates to really narrow down the issue at
this point, but regardless the issue is gone now.

fon, what distro are you running? Try the latest snapshot of winetricks and if
that doesn't work try updating your other packages.

zenity --title 'Winetricks - choose a wineprefix'
--text 'What do you want to do?' --list --radiolist
        --column '' --column '' --column ''
--height 500 --width 1010 --hide-column 2
FALSE help 'View help' FALSE apps 'Install an app'
FALSE benchmarks 'Install a benchmark' FALSE games
'Install a game' TRUE main 'Select the default wineprefix'

I search some zenity example, and the main site contain a list dialog example:
https://help.gnome.org/users/zenity/stable/list.html.en

This example on the site's picture looks like a two lines dialog box
(https://help.gnome.org/users/zenity/stable/figures/zenity-list-screenshot.png),
but when I run on my box, I got the one line window again /attachment/.
So the bug in the zenity /or fedora/, not winetricjs, I think.
Sorry for disturbing You!

This is a Zenity-2 --> Zenity-3 migration problem IMHO.

Zenity maintainer says "there shouldn't be any difference between zenith 2 and
3 besides the toolkit. The scripts should be compatible. If not please open a
bug."

Repeating from issue #359, which is a duplicate:

Some further research reveals that this has been recognized as a problem in
zenity (observed in 3.8.0), and fixed in development. (I'm not sure in what
versions the fix may have appeared; looks like RafJai...@gmail.com got the fix,
at any rate.) The fix actually just involves editing a text file, so if you
are impatient and it's not been released for your package manager, you can get
it right now:

The fix:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/zenity/commit/?id=80bc8ce643979fec201c4ebd5cd6405b6

I would suggest closing this issue.

There is a reported bug against zenity in ubuntu; but as the problem is only
met with winetricks (never met it with an other app), i suppose that the actual
zenity cant be blamed, and indeed winetricks have to be fixed to take care of
that.
