Eh, to be honest I'm kind of liking it with the sleek design of just reducing spaces and special characters to white (or, in the text, to black). On the other hand, I suppose someone who has synesthesia might have really distinct colors for punctuation marks? I don't, personally. I guess they could always file an issue? @jdtrat what do you think about this?
Closing this for now--not a priority and I kinda like how it is.
Not sure if we want this. Let's discuss how to handle spaces/special characters, and whether the user should have control.
