error on desktop client

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Android 2.2, windows 7 x64 running the 32 bit client and Java.
2. Using any conection settings causes the same error.
3. Using wifi from phone to router, wired from router to desktop. Same subnet. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect a confermation of test string received, get the error "an error occurred 
while receiving wifi notification: For input string "9774d56d682e549c""
