I noticed the gles3-dev-upstream-up-to-date branch is a little bit ahead of gles3-dev branch upstream, but it doesn't have the changes made to the latter.
This PR is an attempt to fix that.
I'm not really familiar with the autogen scripts or what I should do to test that the merge correction actually worked properly, but I'd be happy to do that work.
