Control program for linux? #1

Open calocedrus opened 3 years ago

Hi, I'm very tempted to order one from Tindie but I run everything at home and work on Linux. Your Windows control program is all c# which isn't Linux friendly. Do you have anything so that I could use to control the MightyWatt under Linux?

Hi,

sorry, I have no experience with Linux. You can communicate with MightyWatt directly via serial port ( https://github.com/kaktus85/MightyWattR3/blob/master/Guides/MightyWatt%20R3%20Communication%20Protocol%20Description.pdf) but that is more suited for integration into some existing 3rd party measurement software suite.

Kind regards Jakub

@calocedrus After lots of effort, on the VirtualBox side, I am able to control the load with a Linux host (Ubuntu 20.04) and Windows 10 guest, using VirtualBox 7. This was after failed attempts at getting the control software to run with Wine and compiling the C# control software for Linux using the "Mono" project. I have to admit, I didn't really know what I was doing, but I am connected and controlling the load now! (SN 182)
