So I was thinking about building an interface that allows you to quickly "swipe left" or "swipe right" on developers (or companies) in order to create matches, similar to how Tinder works.
Haven't ever used it myself but apparently they've cracked a user interface that reduces a lot of friction in matchmaking.
One thing I haven't quite worked out is whether to let people indicate the reason they are indicated in a "match" with a given person. There could be a variety of potential reasons:
I'd like to hire this person full time
I'd like to hire this person as a contractor
I'd like to network with this person and get to know them as a professional contact without any specific goal
I'd like to collaborate with this person on an open source project or side project
It seems that the beauty of the tinder-style interface is the pure simplicity of swipe left/right so I'd be hesitant to complicate that. Maybe we keep it simple and if you find a match then you message eachother and can get into more detail at that point about what kind of business relationship you're interested in.

It looks like there are already a few applications of this out there - "tinder for jobs" type things: https://www.themuse.com/advice/tinder-for-jobs-check-out-new-app-switch
