That's because default wmts source xml is generated with a <Cache/> tag (see. https://gdal.org/drivers/raster/wmts.html) Mapcache service then complains in the logs : Warning 3: Error writing to WMS cache ./gdalwmscache/315926c4cb2fbf94e47cb04c05a9f2d5
