Is badge icon supported in Android OS? or any API is there. #479

Request summary:
Question: Is badge icon, similar to iOS where an apdate to shown as a badge in 
the app icon is supported in android? or any API is there?

Use Cases:
If an API is there , then we can use it as a badge on the app icon which can 
show any updates on the app.
